Unable to resist jumping into the banter, Morgana said, "Maybe you have to ask it nicely, Beck. Politeness goes a long way, even with ancient artifacts."
Spotting Kori Henderson in the vicinity, Morgana decided to add a new dynamic to the gathering. Waving her over, she beckoned Kori to join the group, signaling the end of her escape from Sally Waltman's persistent company. As Kori approached, Morgana greeted her warmly, wrapping her arm around the younger girl's shoulders in a friendly gesture. "You two play nice. I want to go to Faye's after-party on the beach later," Morgana declared, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Brahms brought goodies!"

As Adam's storm-blue eyes sparked with mischief, Beck couldn't help but remember his friend from before. The banter, the jests, and the underlying tension were threads woven into the fabric of their relationship. Beck's attention shifted to the skull, his snarky remark hanging in the air like an unspoken challenge. He smirked in response to Adam's dry chuckle, the familiarity of their banter echoing through the night. The mention of a big red button underneath elicited a raised eyebrow from Beck and a sardonic grin.
His wildflower blue eyes met Adam’s as the bonfire sparked between them as the other boy closed the gap between them. The subtle changes to Adam’s appearance hadn’t been lost on him. The buffed out chest and unshaved face was a new look. One that Beck didn’t disapprove of, but would never in a million years admit to.
His eyes rolled behind his head as Adam spoke again. With Morgana’s quip not too far behind. “Hardee har har.” He narrowed his eyes. “You’re a real comedian.” He held the skull up with his hand. “Just assumed the great and powerful Conant would have all the answers.” A wicked grin formed on his face. “Must be losing your touch.” He slipped his hand out from under the skull giving the illusion that it would crash to the ground before he reached out with his other hand and caught it with ease – solely to garner a reaction from his former ally.

Alex looked at Faye for a few moments as she thought about how to answer it, not that she didn't know the answer, it was just a matter of packaging it properly. Making it sound reasonable, as opposed to just bizarre. She had done this many times, it was a common question, it just varied in many ways of course, as people wavered on how politely to phrase it. Or, some people had a warped understanding of the concept. "You follow the rules, everyone follows the rules." Alex responded. "You just don't think they're rules, or maybe you like them. People smile at each other, just because someone else smiled even with no words. People laugh at jokes they don't understand, people whisper back if you approach them and whisper... You feel an obligation to do a favor for someone who did you a favor." Alex stopped, looked down briefly, and lifted her shirt to scratch an itch at her belly. The girl continued. "And most people thinking killing someone is wrong. The rules are easy to follow, so easy to follow people don't realise... Maybe your mind and body do it automatically, maybe. That's the difference between me and... Maybe everyone else. I don't know them, they're not, uhm... Built in, so they- I made notes of them to remember, and not get lost." "And dad said, if I don't, people will think I am 'behindert' and then-that no one will want to talk to me, because it's exhausting and makes people have to work harder, and it's not worth it because normal people are less work than me." Alex explained. "And mom gets tired, I think. "Alex explained this in a very matter of fact tone, as if it were no new revelation for her, nor an outburst. Just a fact that she had to think about, and consider when living her life. "So the rules give structure, I guess." That, and she was part German, so the precision and attention to detail probably tickled something in her. Tag: Faye Chamberlain

Faye listened attentively to Alex's explanation, her brows furrowing with understanding and concern. The rules that seemed so inherent to others were a meticulous set of notes for Alex, something she had to consciously consider and remember. As Alex scratched an itch on her belly, Faye couldn't help but feel sympathy for her friend's unique challenges. It was but a momentary blip, but it was there.
"And dad said, if I don't, people will think I am 'behindert' and then... that no one will want to talk to me, because it's exhausting and makes people have to work harder," Alex continued matter-of-factly. Faye's nose wrinkled at the mention of the abuse Alex endured at home, a feeling of anger bubbling within her, even if she couldn't quite place why.
Alex explained the rules to provide structure, and Faye couldn't help but feel frustrated at the injustice of it all. In a calm but firm tone, Faye responded, "You don't have to follow those rules here, Alex. If someone gives you a drink and you don't want it, I empower you to say no. In this house, there are no repercussions for saying no."
Faye waved the topic away with a casual flick of her hand. "Anyway, that's not important. I hope you'll stay for the bonfire later? Brahm brought magic mushrooms, and you don't have to take any if you don't want."

Beck's hand slipped out from under the skull, and Adam's eyes widened with sudden panic as it appeared the ancient artifact might crash to the ground. Reacting instinctively, Adam reached out, fingers stretching to grab the skull, trying to save it from an impending fall. However, the illusion of danger quickly dissipated as Beck smoothly caught the artifact with his other hand, a smug expression on his face.
The tension between Beck and Adam was palpable. It looked like Adam was contemplating punching the other boy for a moment. Before any physical confrontation could occur, a new voice cut through the charged atmosphere. Kori Henderson, the young witch, touched Beckett's shoulder, effectively breaking the spell of tension that had gripped the room.
"My turn?" Kori's voice was questioning as she looked up at Beck with her large, innocent blue eyes. The unexpected interruption brought a momentary diversion, allowing everyone to catch their breath and defuse the mounting tension. Adam shifted his gaze from Beck to Kori, the anticipation of what would unfold next lingering in the air.

The tension between them crackled in the air like static electricity. Adam's eyes flickered with a momentary spark of rage, a silent contemplation of whether to unleash it in a physical confrontation. Beck stood strong. His eyes sparked a hint of defiance, a silent invitation for Adam to step into the arena. He knew Adam well enough that he wouldn’t misbehave too badly.
The charged atmosphere was momentarily diffused by Kori’s interruption, his eyes diverted from Adam’s to acknowledge the newcomer. He sighed heavily as the girl’s doe-like eyes stared at him. He didn’t want to let the skull go, but it wasn’t his. Not yet anyway. Handing it over to the girl carefully, “Be careful,"he remarked. "Seems like the skull has a flair for the dramatic.” His voice dripped with sarcasm as he flashed a grin in Adam’s direction.

As the mention of his name echoed through the gathering like a whispered summoning, Brahms materialized on the outskirts of the beach festivities. His entrance carried a quiet and deliberate energy as if drawn by an unseen force, perhaps the mysterious pull of the crystal skull. The moonlight cast a subtle glow on his features, giving him an enigmatic presence as he observed the scene unfolding before him. Choosing to remain in the outer circle of the gathering, he watched with passive interest as Adam and Beck engaged in their charged interaction. The tension between them crackled like a live wire, creating a palpable atmosphere that hinted at deeper undercurrents beneath the surface. Brahm's eyes, a mirror of the moonlit night, held a serene contemplation as if he were attuned to the hidden forces at play. Brahms couldn't help but observe the tension that lay between Adam and Beck with a wry amusement. The crackling atmosphere seemed to beg for a resolution, a release of the underlying currents that held them in a silent standoff. "Why don't you two just kiss and get it over with already?" he quipped, his tone light and laced with jest. A touch of mischief gleamed in his eyes as he threw the playful suggestion into the charged air. His fingers twitched with an undeniable desire to touch the crystal surface of the ancient artifact. The allure of its mysterious energy beckoned to him, and yet, he exercised patience, knowing that Kori currently held the turn. His gaze, intense and unwavering, remained fixed on the scene as she turned the crystal skull over in her hands. Kori, with her peerless blue eyes, seemed entranced by the empty eye sockets of the ancient relic. The soft glow of moonlight accentuated the contours of the crystal, casting a dazzling display of prismatic light over the scene. Brahm's anticipation simmered beneath the surface, his connection to the artifact palpable in the air. Turning to Morgana, he wagged a finger back and forth at her. "Not for you, Morgana."

Adam felt embarrassment creep up his neck as he exchanged a brief, incredulous glance with Beck. The crackling atmosphere intensified as if the suggestion had fueled a burning fire. He chuckled nervously, running a hand through his wine red hair. "Right in front of Diana, Brahms? Come on now, let's not make things more awkward than they already are," he replied, attempting to diffuse the tension with a wry smile. His eyes darted back and forth between his girlfriend and Brahms, silently hoping that the tension would dissipate without the need for any further embarrassing questions. Despite the jest in his tone, Adam couldn't shake off the underlying unease that lingered in the charged air. @jessicaknox Brahm van Tassel

Morgana's mismatched eyes sparkled with mischievous delight as Kori remained entranced by the ancient relic. The prismatic dance of moonlit hues on the crystal's surface only fueled Morgana's curiosity. Brahm's anticipation added an extra layer of excitement, making the atmosphere charged with energy. When Brahm playfully wagged his finger at her, Morgana's playful defiance kicked in. "Noooo-wah," she drawled, elongating the word for emphasis, her lips forming a teasing grin. " Why? I promise to be so good..."Brahm, not easily swayed, delivered a dry response that cut through her attempt at innocence. "Because I don't want a pissed-off Rory Blackwood barging down my door because I got his daughter high on mushrooms."Morgana, undeterred, tried to negotiate with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "I won't tell!"Brahm remained unyielding, his deadpan humor intact. "Okay, I don't want a pissed-off Adam Conant barging down my door..."Morgana let out a theatrical groan, pouting for effect. She crossed her arms over her chest and dropped ungracefully into one of the nearby lounge chairs. " You're no fun, Brammy!" she declared with mock disappointment. Brahm van Tassel Jamie Faulkner

Alex looked at Faye for a little bit longer, and thought about what her words meant really. It wasn't so much that she didn't understand their meaning, she just needed a moment to confirm their practical applications. Thinking on her knowledge about house parties, the hierarchy usually placed the host at the top, followed by the popular guests, or the ones closest to the host. That said, she figured that if Faye was giving her more authority, then it was acceptable to act as such. "Oh but what if the-" It was occurring to Alex that the authority would live and die with this party, once it was over any slights she had made against others would be carried over. Though, she quickly decided to at least accept the most direct privilege granted, she could deny drinks at this point. "I'll remember that." It was easy as that, she looked around and then resolved that if she was now an elevated guest, she could do more. Not that she wanted to, but she could at least appreciate the added authority. "Thank you, Faye. I won't take advantage of this, so shouldn't- Don't worry." Alex said, slipping a finger into her pocket. "What do you mean stay for the bonfire? You mean stay until you finish dancing around it? Or stay until you make the tribute- The offering for the Earth and Fire?" She asked, to make sure. The offer wasn't immediately objectionable, but she just wanted to make sure what was expected of her. As usual. "What do the mushrooms do? How are they magic?" Tag: Faye Chamberlain

Faye smiled, sensing Alex's cautious curiosity. "Oh, darling, it's the whole package deal. The bonfire, the dancing, and the offering to the Earth and Fire. It's a ritual to show our respect and maintain the balance between the magical and natural elements," she explained, her voice hinting at mystique.
"As for the mushrooms," Faye continued with a sly grin, "they're a little magic of their own. Not the kind that will make you cast spells, but they'll take you on a journey, open your mind, and let you see the world in a different light. They make you... high, sweetie. It's a different kind of magic, one that connects you to the energies around us in a more, shall we say, visceral way."
Laughing slightly, she added, "Now, the offering part is optional. Some folks prefer to just enjoy the spectacle, but those who choose to be a part of the offering... well, let's just say they tend to reap some special rewards. A little extra sprinkle of magic in their lives, you know?" Faye winked, inviting Alex to consider joining in the mystical festivities that awaited them around the bonfire.

Brahm rolled his mahogany brown eyes, their color reflecting a deep ruby red in the flickering firelight. He strolled into the gathering, exchanging friendly fist bumps in greeting with both Adam and Beck. A silent plea for forgiveness lingered in his eyes. He hoped the snarky comment he'd tossed their way hadn't left a lasting sting.
Brahm plucked the crystal skull out of Kori's entranced hands with a nonchalant ease. He didn't bother asking for permission, the artifact seemingly under his jurisdiction. Turning it over in his hands, he carefully scrutinized the ancient relic.
"I'd rather be not fun than dead," he murmured to Morgana, a wry smile on his lips. "Stop advertising; people are going to start believing I am a drug dealer."
He couldn't help but notice the movement inside the house, catching a glimpse through the window where Faye and Alex engaged in an unexpected conversation. Before Faye could catch on, Brahm smoothly handed the crystal skull back to Kori Henderson, ensuring the delicate balance of the evening remained intact.
"Are we planning on using this later or...?"

Diana watched silently as one of the ancient artifacts Adam had just bought back be passed around the room like a new puppy. Watching silently as the coven conversed between themselves. They were all friends here, but the passing of the Crystal Skull just made her uncomfortable. She wanted it to go back in Adams bag until they figured out just what power they held.
Some would disagree with her, definitely the more cautious of the group. Around it went until it was in Beck’s hands. As she feared it dropped. Her heart was in her mouth as it went tumbling. Adam already on the move trying to catch it before Beck reached out and caught it himself, ” Shit Beck! That was not funny…” Diana glared a little at his smug smile. She sighed with relief none the less.
Turning her head toward Brahm then at his comment and rolled her clear jade eyes at his deadpan comment. And with that the air could be cut with a knife. She smiled toward Adam sipping a drink in her hand before chuckling a little at Morgana’s comment. Kori was next to claim ownership of the skull and Diana praying she wasn’t a butter fingers.
At Brahm question of using it later Diana honestly didn’t know. Research into the artifacts was just starting. She flicked her eyes to Adam considering. He had gone through the trouble to find them for them to use after all. Leader here she might be, but she liked to be fair, if others wanted to use it, ” I think its something to be voted on…” Diana interjected. Together they could probably control the power it held.

Beck couldn't help but feel a surge of irritation at Brahm's interruption. Brahms' wry amusement only added to the simmering undercurrents, his suggestion of a resolution to their standoff eliciting a scoff from Beck. Though Adam’s flushed cheeks caused a small smirk to form on Beck’s face. The nervous chuckle and attempts to diffuse the tension only fueled Beck’s amusement.
"Not in front of Diana, Brahms!" Beck chimed in, his tone dripping with sarcasm as he shot a sidelong glance at the object of Adam's embarrassment. The notion of making things more awkward than they already were seemed to amuse Beck to no end, the mischievous glint in his stormy blue eyes betraying his enjoyment of the discomfort swirling around them.
Diana's silent observation didn't escape Beck's notice, and he couldn't help but roll his eyes at her apparent discomfort with the passing of the crystal skull. Her cautious demeanor grated against Beck's own rebellious spirit, and he made a mental note to keep an eye on her as the night unfolded.
"Relax, Di, just testing my reflexes," Beck quipped, his voice laced with sarcasm as he shot a playful grin in Diana's direction. Her glare only seemed to fuel Beck's amusement, and he reveled in the fleeting moment of control he held over the situation.
As the tension lingered in the air like an invisible fog, Beck sighed at Diana's suggestion of voting on the use of the artifact. It sparked a flicker of defiance within him, a silent challenge to the status quo.
"Voting, huh? How democratic of you, Di," Beck remarked, his voice laced with annoyance. “But we both know who has the final say regardless of how many votes are tallied.”

Alex was about to let it go, but then she remembered that Faye had told her not to feel obligated to do any pretending. So, the girl asked, deciding she wasn't satisfied with the answer, it didn't address her query at all really. "Okay. But when can I leave? After the offering, or after you finish dancing, or after the fire dies down?" Compared to the tone of intrigue from Faye, Alex was more or less bland as usual. The mushrooms were much the same, but at least Alex now understood that they were not magical, and yet... What was all this about a journey, and energies? What journey, what energies. "What journey, is it a astral projection? what do you mean energies? Energies is just matter or radiation, with potential to perform work, like motion, or illumination, or making reactions... So, you mean the mushrooms bring us closer to stuff like fire, or sound? And when you say visceral, is it about feelings or my body organs?" But then it clicked. "Or is that just a way to say you- This is just drugs?" Alex asked, reaching under her shirt and scratching at her belly again. 'Oh. They're gonna take drugs and sit around a fire.' Alex thought to herself, as if everything officially slid into place. Tag: Faye Chamberlain
